Case Study - The Village Green

Client: Urban & Civic
About the Project

We were asked to develop an open communal space, connecting existing residential sites, that provides the public with a special, safe place to get together and enjoy communal activities. Working with a designer, we were provided with drawings to aid the construction.

The project required a range of services, including:

  • Stripping the area
  • Drainage installation, including land drains
  • Creating Asbill drawings based on the locations of drains and electrical ducts
  • Lighting and cables installation
  • Footpath installation with tarmac and resin bound final surfacing
  • All furniture installation, including benches, bins and signs
  • Petanque area installation
  • Tree installation
  • Wild flower seeding
  • Turfing and seeding of open spaces and play spaces
  • Supply and installation of all planting, including hedging and shrub beds
  • We've also created a maintenance package to ensure the area is always looking it's best.

We worked closely with the client throughout the duration of the project to make sure they were kept informed of the progress we were making and were happy with the end result.

Case Study - Waterbeach Woods

Client: Urban & Civic
About the Project

We were asked to create an impressive woodland and play space, for the new residents of the area to enjoy on their doorsteps. We worked closely with the client to select large mature trees that would suit their requirements.

The project required a range of services related to tree work, including:

  • Stripping the area, including removing all vegetation, existing tree stumps and materials in the ground
  • Topsoil compost and fertiliser installation
  • Profiling the ground to match the existing woodland floor
  • Installation of 150+ mature trees
  • Installation of 100+ smaller trees, to compliment the larger trees
  • Installation of small mulistem trees and bushes to give the woodland floor some coverage
  • We used the existing woodland materials to create and install wildlife habitats
  • Over 400 shurbs installed around a play space to allow the woodland to flow through the play space
  • Ground preparation and wildflower seeding to the woodland floor
  • We've also created a maintenance package for all planting in the woodland area

We developed a close relationship with the client and had regular check-ins with them to ensure they were happy with the progress we were making on the project and that we were meeting their requirements.

Case Study - Flower Planter

Client: Weldon Cricket Club
About the Project

We were asked to remove a rundown and unused petanque court and replace it with a bespoke planting bed ready for the client to fill with flowers. The planting bed would be a focal point and needed to be an impressive sight for visitors to the club.

The project required a range of services, including:

  • Removal of petanque court
  • Removal of materials
  • Level the existing ground
  • Importing top soil and ground preparation for seeding
  • Construction and installation of a custom size planting bed

We kept in touch with the client throughout the duration of the project, and this is what they had to say about the end result:

“Thank you for the work your company has done for the club.”

“The old petanque court, which looked so unsightly, has now been replaced by a wonderful statement flower bed which is a wonderful welcoming feature to the entrance to the ground. I kow there was some debate around the way the bed should slope but let me reassure you that it definitely faces the correct way welcoming visitors to the club. We have already had many compliments about the bed and the quality of the workmanship is excellent.”

“I am also grateful that is was completed in time for it to be included in the route for Weldon Village's first entry to the Royal Horticultural Society, Village in Bloom competition which is being judged on the 2nd of July.”
